Introduction for beginners User guide Registration manual Easy configuration for most controls. Programming of rhythm sequences not very practical. The mark given corresponds to the purchase date. Today, the drum machine obviously sounds pretty basic and the sounds are limited. However, all in all, it still suits my music perfectly: Commercial music and chanson.
A bit of classic music. Lots of jazz and blues. I hate noise and distorted sounds. The rating I gave it corresponds to the purchase. I tested it a lot before buying it. I love most of all the synth.
The value for money was good but passion had a lot to do with my decision. In hindsight, I would've bought something with a full pedalboard and richer sound register. I lack midi right now. All in all, a very classic organ, but well-equipped thanks to the upper, the lower and the programmable drum machine.
Did you say expressiveness??? Or you fiddle with it Other connections? I'm not familiar with the audio path in the D85 but there may be some connectors along the way. My problem now is how to get to the headphone jack casing because I believe I'll have to somehow lift the whole lower keyboardto get at it. I alsothink I might have found a place that has a "service guide manual" for my D I'm waiting for an answer from them. Once again Thank YOU!!!!! Re: Yamaha D85 no Sound One thought is the little light bulb that works the volume swell pedal.
Mine burned out and I had to get a replacement. It is sort of tricky, but sort of easy Could be fuse on one of the amps If you canadjust thevolume of the headphones with the expression pedal then it is unlikely that the pedal lampis at fault. If the organspeakers give you a satisfactoryvolume and clarity then it is unlikely that theamps are faulty. AUX IN reproduced soundscan not be controlled by the expression pedal.
EXP IN sounds can. Send me a PM and we can discuss it. Hope this helps. Lowrey H25R2. Elka EP I have recently got a D85 with the same defect - no sound. So, after quick checking I realised that sound can be heard through headphone and line out socket. Headphones socket was also OK switching off speaker signal , but relay on TC board tone cabinet badly oscillatted. I found a failured capacitor in in TAP protection circuit based on a bottom of power supply unit , so after replacing, relay started to switch audio signal properly.
Now voice through speakers is almost OK. Almost, because it is too low through speakers, headphones and line out socket. On maximum amplification it can be hardly heard for upper and lower keyboard. Rythm section and solo keybard are a bit better but I am sure that such amplifiers and speakers simply have to be much louder.
After looking inside I found that my D85 was probably modified, mostly in wires between top and bottom part of case. Signals and supplies cables are coming together through very poor ebonite round connectors made maybe in early sixites. They have got serious problems with proper connection even after pins cleaning electronic part swithes off, some noises etc. In few days I am going to re-wire especially supplying connections, but I do not think it will solve a problem of low sound level.
This defect should be somewhere before MA Mixing Pre Amplifier board , but signal routes are really unclear withuot diagrams. I have got only service manual for E50 construction looks similar but it is not enough for complete device 'stocktaking'. So are there any D85 service manuals available? For this moment I need mostly overall block diagram. Or maybe someone had the similar problem with signal and could help me?
Regards Bartosz. I may be able to help. After exchange for equivalent, volume is really high. Now I hear that custom voices are not working only a initial 'click' can be heared but it is a problem for another topic.
Thanks to all, especially Skippy for support. Hadn't used the organ for quite some time and switched on yesterday evening - after couple of seconds there was a muffled bang and horrible smell of burning smoke!
Turned off and unplugged quickly I can tell you! Left things for a little while and then plugged in and switched on again no more burning smoke but no sound from the organ.
Lights come on and tremolo speaker spins. Tried headphones and yes sound coming from there also tried my two TM5 tone cabinets and sound from there ok as well. When switching organ on there is no sound of any relay switching as there is with the tone cabinets.
I'm not an electrician but quite practical and inquisitive so started to look and see if I could find anywhere that might look burnt or a least smell burnt. Lifted up the 3 keyboards and everything ok there apart from 30 odd years of dust! Removed the organ back and smell definately there. Checked all the fuses and all intact however could see there are four wires connected to the board - labelled P6 and I can see that in the clear connecting base there is some liquid - on looking closer behind these connections are 2 oblong goldish components to the left of these on the board is written C and the next one moving towards the front of the organ is C both of these on the top have 0.
So I'm guessing that C may have leaked and when I switched on shorted? Again guessing but is this maybe some type of capacitor? I would like to see if I can get the organ going again by replacing the leaking smelly component - wonder if anyone knows whether these parts can still be obtained and if so what I should be asking for. Of course it could be that something else has failed that has caused this item to leak and melt but can't see or smell anything elsewhere so would be worth a go if I can get the part - maybe replace both of them just in case.
There is another one C a bit further away moving towards the front of the organ but there are no burn marks or fluid leaks that I can see so assme all ok. Hope someone can give me some help would be a shame to have to put the organ 'to rest'!
